The Story
Remember Honest Ed's?
Known for hand-painted signs, bargain prices and an unmistakable storefront, Honest Ed's became a Toronto retail landmark and a powerful source of local memories.
Honest Ed's was founded by Ed Mirvish in Toronto in 1948. The discount store became famous for its densely packed merchandise, hand-lettered signs, theatrical promotions and prominent presence at Bloor and Bathurst. The store closed at the end of 2016, but its visual identity and neighbourhood legacy remain deeply associated with Toronto.
